Gwin's Travel Employee Spotlight: Bob Baker

Happy New Year! We hope that you rang in 2017 with great excitement. We are looking forward to another year of providing excellent service and meeting all your corporate travel needs. Our first Employee Spotlight blog of the New Year shines on Bob Baker, Vice President of Client Services. Bob is dedicated to ensuring that our customers are happy with their travel experiences.  

Years ago, Bob was working constantly, holding down three part-time jobs. He came across an advertisement in the paper for the Trans World Travel Academy, which stated that upon completing their coursework, he would be guaranteed an interview with TWA at their St. Louis reservation office. The opportunity was intriguing. Bob started with TWA in March of 1990. Just four years later, he began working with Gwin’s Travel.

The diversity of Gwin’s Travel clients is one of the things that Bob loves most about his job. He enjoys showing corporate clients the value of a managed travel program. On another level, Bob feels fortunate to work with a “great company and great co-workers.” He appreciates the family-like atmosphere of the team here at Gwin’s.

Bob’s number one travel tip is, “Read your itinerary as soon as your receive it in order to make sure that what you booked or what was booked for you is correct.” The reason is simple: “It is much easier to resolve issues within 24 hours of confirming your reservation than it is to resolve them 24 hours before your flight leaves.”

A bit more about Bob - his first concert was the Little River Band. The most interesting places that Bob has ever traveled are Sydney, Australia and Aukland, New Zealand. That said, even for the most enthusiastic traveler, Bob feels there is no place like home. He purchased his first home in 2015, and he enjoys working around his house, hanging out at home with friends, family and his three dogs: Kota, Rocky and Diamond.

We are thankful for Bob Baker, who serves our clients and the Gwin’s Travel team with great commitment and enthusiasm. It’s employees like Bob that allow us to provide amazing customer service to each and every client. We look forward to continuing this long-standing tradition in 2017 and for many years to come.
