We are excited to shine the Employee Spotlight on Kerry Maceranka. Kerry works in the leisure department at our Bethalto, Illinois location. She enjoys researching, planning, pricing and coordinating travel so her clients can see the world!
Kerry strongly believes that travel is one of the best investments you can make in yourself. Travel helps individuals to live the biggest and best life possible; this belief drew Kerry to the travel industry. She began working toward this goal as a remote employee of a Florida company. She soon realized that she would find more success with an established local company, and feels very fortunate to have been hired by Gwin’s Travel about one year ago.
Kerry’s favorite part of the job is the before and after. She loves seeing the excitement on clients’ faces once they’ve booked their trip, and later hearing all the details and pictures once they return.
It’s perfect that the October spotlight is on Kerry because she has so many tricks and treats to share:
* It usually doesn’t cost any more to use a travel agent than it does to book on your own. Suppliers pay the agents; so booking through an agent often saves money, almost always saves time and definitely provides peace of mind. People are also unaware of the many benefits of using an agent and are usually surprised at the value they add to booking travel.
* Trips can often be paid for in installments. A small down payment may be required to book a trip, but then payments can be made on the balance or an individual can make a later lump sum payment, such as with a tax return.
* Destination weddings are often more fabulous, personal, and less expensive. Plus, they’re more eco-friendly, as there is less waste. Couples spend more time with their closest friends and family, and get a jumpstart on the honeymoon. Not to mention the memorable and amazing pictures!
When it comes to her own travel, she loves every place she visits and is open to everything. The experience of being in a new place and meeting new people is enjoyable and interesting. She loves the mountains, the beach, small towns, big cities, and everything in between. Kerry also enjoys photography, writing, live music (Her first concert was David Cassidy at the Mississippi River Festival), social media, camping, floating, and reading. In all of this, she strives to live as green (eco-responsible) as possible.
We are thankful to have Kerry as a part of our team. We agree with her when she says, “Travel is just such a great way to expand your world!”
